LACONIA FLIGHT ACADEMY IS FIRST NEW HAMPSHIRE FLIGHT SCHOOL APPROVED BY NH DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO OFFER HIGH SCHOOL CREDITED FLIGHT TRAINING

New Hampshire Department of Education Approves New Program for High School Students to Earn High School Credit for Flight Training

Gilford, NH (April 1, 2024) – Laconia Flight Academy (LFA)/Sky Bright Aviation (SBA), a leader in quality flight training, is excited to announce that the New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) approved application to allow high school students to earn high school credits for pursuing a Private Pilot Certificate and/or Instrument Flight Rating, as part of the state’s “Learn Everywhere” program.

Moreover, LFA/SBA is proud to announce that the NHED also approved Laconia Flight Academy as the first officially authorized New Hampshire flight school to offer high school credited flight training for high school students.

With this approval from the NHED, LFA/SBA is authorized to issue certificates for credit, towards high school graduation, to students that complete their approved “Learn Everywhere” Private Pilot Certificate and/or Instrument Flight Rating courses.

“Working to earn a private pilot license can be very time consuming and only a couple of New Hampshire high schools and Career & Technical Centers have any type of aviation career training,” said Lee Avery, owner of Laconia Flight Academy. “The New Hampshire’s Department of Education “Learn Everywhere” program allows students to earn high school credit for learning they do outside of the traditional school classroom. If you are a New Hampshire high school student working on your Private Pilot Certificate, and your flight academy/school has been approved by the New Hampshire Department of Education, as Laconia Flight Academy has, you can earn from 1/2 elective credit (ground school only) to 2 elective credits (PPL with an Instrument rating) toward high school graduation.”

“This is a fantastic opportunity for New Hampshire students interested in pursuing a career in aviation,” said Dan Caron, Education Officer for WinnAero, a Laconia, New Hampshire based non-profit organization that runs the STEM/Aviation based “ACE Academy” summer camps for elementary through high school age students. “The decision by the Department of Education to approve this “Learn Everywhere” aviation program provides a path forward for our ACE Academy graduates that want to continue their aviation education and career goals.”

New Hampshire high school students interested in pursuing credit for flight training are encouraged to contact Laconia Flight Academy at (603) 528-6818 or visit our website at www.laconiaflightacademy.com. Our next hybrid In-person/Online Private Pilot Ground School course starts May 20, 2024.
